Austria Motorway Map

The Austrian motorway network comprises over 2,200 km of motorways (A) and expressways (S). All these routes are subject to toll and require a valid vignette for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.

Local Specifics

Vienna

In Vienna there are no inner-city toll routes. The vignette is only needed when leaving the city on motorways. The Vienna Ring (A23) is subject to toll.

Salzburg

Salzburg is on the A1 West Motorway. The Tauern Motorway A10 starts south of Salzburg and has special tolls. For transit travellers to Italy, the Brenner is relevant.

Innsbruck / Tyrol

Tyrol has several special toll routes: Brenner Motorway A13, Arlberg Road Tunnel and Felbertauern. Plan for additional costs.

Vorarlberg

The Arlberg Road Tunnel connects Vorarlberg with Tyrol and has special tolls. Alternatively, the Arlberg Pass road (L197) can be used free of charge (seasonal).

Carinthia

The Karawanken Tunnel A11 connects Carinthia with Slovenia and has special tolls. The A2 South Motorway can be used without special tolls.

Styria

Graz is accessible via the A2 and A9. The Pyhrn Motorway A9 has special tolls on some sections. The S35 Bruck Expressway has no special tolls.
